Day 1:  Marrakech > Dades Gorges

Day 2: Dades Valley > Erg Chebbi Dunes Sahara

Day 3: Erg Chebbi > Zagora Dunes

Day 1: Marrakesh – Dades Gorges

Your tour starts from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at 8:00 am.

Main stops along the way:

  • Tichka Pass (2260m), the highest road pass in Morocco and Africa.
  • UNESCO  Site – Ait ben Haddou. This Kasbah is the most impressive and well-preserved fortress cities in Morocco.  The Gladiator or Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here.
  • Lunch at the Ait ben Haddou Kasbah.
  • Valley of the Roses (Kelaa M’Gouna) is the centre of Moroccan roses and rose products. Acres of Persian roses are grown and harvested here to create rose water, creams and soaps.
  • Evening arrival in Dades Gorge, a beautiful gorge carved  by the Dades River over centuries. You will rest here in a guest house.

Day 2: Dades – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes Sahara)

Stops along the way:

  • Todra Gorge – the highest oasis in Morocco.  The gorge is cut into the ochre-coloured cliffs of the High Atlas.
  • Lunch break
  • Merzouga Desert Camp – your day will end with a desert camel trek with a guide.  The camels will take you to the highest dune for the most magical sun set you will ever see. You will spend the night in the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Zagora

Stops along the way:

  • Early morning wake up to watch the most unforgettable sunrise.
  • Camel ride back to the car. You will meet with your guide and continue your road journey.
  • Dra’a Valley via the village of Tazzarine (now featured in the film ‘Babel’)
  •  Lunch break.
  • Off-road driving will allow a closer impression of life in the villages.
  • Zagora dunes where you will spend the night in berber capm in a privat nomad tent.
  • Camel ride before the sunset.

Day 4: Zagora – Chigaga Dunes (Sahara)

Stops along the way:

  • The pottery place in Tamrgout
  • M’hamid for Lunch. Mhamid Elghizlan – the  gate to the Erg Chigaga dunes
  • Erg Chigaga dunes camp – your day will end with a desert camel trek with a guide.  The camels will take you to the highest dune for the most magical sun set you will ever see. You will spend the night in a privat tent in the Berber Camp. dinner and breakfast can be served in the desert.

Day 5: Chigaga Dunes – Ksar Ait Benhaddou

Stops along the way:

  • Breakfast at the camp
  • Foum Zquid – beautiful off road opening the landscape to some views that will set in your memory.
  •  At lunch time we arrive to Taznkaht, berber town where you see carpets hanging everywhere, you may have the chance to visit one of the cooperatives there,
  • Dinner at UNESCO- Ait Ben Haddou – This Kasbah is the most impressive and well-preserved fortress cities in Morocco.  The Gladiator or Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here. Overnight sleep in a hotel nearby.

Day 6: Ksar Ait Benhaddou – Marrakesh

Stops along the way:

  • Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou – the sight played an important role in the farewell past as it has been used as an important stop on the caravan routes bringing mainly salt, gold, ivory and slaves. Walking along the streets and viewing the old homes we get to see how life must have been in this Ksar.
  •  Ounilla Valley passing through a small gorge and river. The route will pass some important old salt mines and Kasbah Telouet, impressive kasbah worth your visit.
  • Tizi n’Tichka pass again back to Marrakech.
  • Expected arrival in Marrakech around 5pm.

PRACTICAL INFO

  • Departure at : 8:00 AM.
  • Drop off at your hotel/riad the 6th day at 5:00 PM
  • You can take pictures of women in the cooperative, but in the villages or on the road you have to ask to photograph people, or shops .
  • We recommend sensible shoes or trainers.
  • Cash is the preferred method of payment across most of Morocco as very few traders have card facilities
  • We’d expect you to know this already, but when you’re buying something in Morocco, haggling is the name of the game. And it is a game, don’t get highly offended if someone offers you something at ten times its value, make a counter bid!
  • Coin purse are good to take, as you will need small amounts of money for photos ,snacks, tips, and toilets ” 2 Dirhams”
  • There are numerous pharmacies in Morocco, though it is advised that you get a prescription from your doctor before you leave if you need regular medication. If you feel ill but don’t think it’s serious enough for a hospital, visit a pharmacist will usually be able to help you, and recommend a doctor if you need one.
  • Morocco is predominantly a Muslim country (though a more socially liberated one than many others), so please be aware that some behaviour that is acceptable at home is not permitted here. Dress is usually more restrained.
  • We require a 20% deposit before hand to confirm your booking for the tour, via Paypal or Bank Transfer
  • Money back if cancelation 30 days before the Tour.

In regards to accommodations when you contact us we will send you an email with the list of accommodations you will be staying in. They will all be approved Pension type hotels which have been rated as having a good and comfortable stay. During the one night stay in the desert we will offer a glamping style tent with good conditions which allow you to get the true experience of the Sahara. How ever there is the option of staying in luxurious hotels for an extra fee, if preferable.
